Here are a few horror games in VR that are a must play if you love horror games especially in VR. Ever since I have played Resident Evil 7 in VR, I must admit that you need balls of steel to survive a horror VR game. It is definitely not a piece of cake to play an entire game in VR without panic sweats. Still, I think most of us would agree that VR horror games are definitely fun and it is amazing to play them with our favorite PC VR headsets.
A few most awaited games for this year are-
1. Don’t Knock Twice
The movie was scary enough and now we have a game. The game is about a witch who lives in a manor and you are playing the game as a mother who is looking for her daughter inside the manor. The daughter is trapped inside and as you progress within the game you would find many clues and unravel mysteries which would aid you in finding your daughter.
The game looks pretty good and I hope that it has a really good gameplay and an engaging narrative. The demo is available on both the major VR headsets HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. The full game is officially releasing in April and I’m expecting that this game should be great to play.
The game trailer makes it look pretty promising and I really hope the game is as good as the Resident Evil 7 which has already raised the bar for most of the VR horror games this year. Starting the year off with such a game has only made us hope for great games this year.
2. Paranormal Activity: The Lost Soul
This game is more about an engaging horrifying story rather than jump scares which are usually commonly used in horror games to scare the player. Jump scares tend to be scary because of the element of surprise in them and they give you a sudden shock which sometimes does get to you and your heart skips a beat.
The Paranormal Activity is more like the Resident Evil(Just can’t stop with the comparison), where the game has an engaging storyline and you have hours of gameplay on your hands. The setup of the game reminds me of Insidious and let me know in the comment section below if you guys think the same as well!
The game is quite scary and you need to have balls of steel to play it in VR. I shall pass on this one if it turns out way too scary in VR than expected. The game does have amazing graphics and a very realistic setup. In VR the game should look pretty cool making this horror game one of the most awaited games of 2017. The early access of the game has been released on 14 March 2017 and you can go and check it out on the Steam Store for downloads.
3. Get Even
This is a first person game where you are going to be the protagonist. In the beginning of the game, you wake up at a mental asylum with the only memory of saving a teenage girl with a bomb strapped to her chest. The entire game is about you figuring out what is happening and how you got to the asylum and who is the girl.
The game gets pretty confusing with all the flashbacks and a few unknown character that you see every now and then. This game does not come with jump scares but everything that is going around might freak you out. It is a psychological horror so even if you don’t really get any jump scares, it still manages to get you paranoid.
This game has great graphics and amazing detailing, the scenes that are shown in the game look pretty realistic and the game is a first-person shooting game along with a hint of horror. The overall storyline is more like a suspense thriller where a few moments can get a little freaky.
Although this game might not involve ghosts or any other typical horror game characters it does scare you and if you want a game that has a slight hint of horror along with an amazing storyline then you should clearly try this game. The game releases in Spring 2017.
4. Resident Evil 7
Most of the Gamers have already played this game since there was an outburst of everyone buying it during the release. There are many let’s play channels on YouTube where gamers have even uploaded playing this entire game. I just could not leave this game from my list since it is one of the best releases of 2017 and if you love horror games then you must play this game.
The Resident Evil will really freak you out with the storyline and all the creepy characters where not all of them end up not liking you and most of them are trying to kill you, LOL. The game has an amazing storyline and a really engaging gameplay. The gameplay can go for around for 8 hours and trust me it is really addictive.
Playing in VR is a totally different experience than playing it on your PC, but trust me the horror gets multiplied by 1000 when it comes to VR gameplay. The game requires you to have a really strong heart if you wish to play this game in VR but if you can then you would be greeted with the amazing graphics, great detailing and an overall fun and immersive experience.
This game was a bomb that exploded on January 28, 2017 and if you have not yet played this game then go ahead and get this game online ASAP. If you love horror games and want to play one of the best releases of the year then Resident Evil has to be the one on your checklist.
5. Wilson’s Heart
This game is exclusive to the Oculus Rift and Oculus Touch. This is a first-person game, where you play the role of the protagonist, Robert Wilson. Robert Wilson wakes up in a hospital only to realize that his heart has been replaced by some device.
As you progress through the game, you see a lot of chaos and mysteries. The game keeps you engaged with the storyline and it is a psychological thriller that will keep you completely immersed in the VR world. The game is in black and white giving you the feels of the 1950’s and making the game a bit more daunting.
The game releases in April this year and is one of the most awaited horror games. I think it would have a really nice mix of mystery and puzzle solving to get through the entire gameplay. The graphics look realistic making this game even a better in the VR world.
