Best Flight Simulator Games

January 30, 2017 by Shrey 6 Comments

Flight Simulator games in VR are one of the best experiences anyone can ask for because flying is a task which is not possible for every human except if you are a pilot. This experience in VR is unique and one of the best that anyone could possibly expect. Almost every one of us has dreamed of flying an aircraft although that is just a reality for a few of us but when it comes to VR, it is possible for everyone. Let’s see a few amazing flight simulator games that we have on the Oculus, Vive and the Razer OSVR headsets.

Table of Contents

  • 1. Eagle Flight
  • 2. Ski Sport: Jumping VR
  • 3. War Thunder
  • 4. Lunar Flight
  • 5. Aerofly FS 2 Flight Simulator
  • 6. DCS World
  • 7. Eve: Gunjack

1. Eagle Flight

This is one of the best Flight simulator games because the player in the game is embodied in an eagle and you can fly across different places in Paris. This game has beautiful views and breathtaking sceneries especially when you fly above all the buildings and other man-made creations. The game has beautiful detailing and awesome graphics.

The multiplayer game in Eagle flight gets really competitive and it feels amazing when you compete by flying over and under the bridges which are more like a racing game but this time it is you who will crash into objects if not careful. The gameplay is really engaging and one cannot stop playing this game so the Vive users can check out the game on SteamVR and the PlayStation VR users can check out the game on Amazon.com.

2. Ski Sport: Jumping VR

Yeah, although this is not exactly what one would expect when it comes to flight simulation games, but hey, it still has some flying! Ski sport is another VR game where you would be ski jumping in the Virtual World and if you have never done that before then get your head gear on (sorry, headsets on!).

This VR game is very immersive and it is one of the best experiences you can have on your VR headsets. Although I would not say that this is a perfect fit for flight simulator games but it does give you a flying sort of experience which is worth it if you are interested in Ski Jumping. This is a single player game and if interested you can buy it at the Steam Store.

3. War Thunder

This is another extensive multiplayer game where you can wage war on air, land and sea battles with international players in an ever-changing scenario. The aerial matches need strategy and planned action which makes this game have a really long gameplay time.

This game is amazingly planned and designed for a cruel multiplayer battle among online players from various part of the world. Being one of the best Flight simulators, war thunder is something one should definitely try and if you aren’t convinced yet then check out the video below.

4. Lunar Flight

This is one of the best games with amazing graphics which look almost realistic and has quite a bit of detailing. In the game, you are mainly completing tasks like taking supplies to the moon and transport, survey and lost cargo recovery missions. This is one of the best flight missions one could possibly go on staying within the comfort of their rooms.

The game has a scoreboard and different levels to play on. The game even has multiple missions and various other timed tasks that you can complete and earn points. The game is available for the Oculus Rift, Vive and OSVR headsets on Steam Store so do check out the lunar module simulator.

5. Aerofly FS 2 Flight Simulator

The flight simulator gets real with the Aerofly Flight simulator game as here you get to be a pilot and fly planes in the VR world. The game has highly interactive 3D cockpits, adjustable cockpit lighting at the night and worldwide aviation and aerial images.

The game has a wide range of aircraft to choose from and a beautiful display of terrain features like mountains, lakes, and cities for easy VFR navigation. It has images of over 150 different airports which looks quite real and showcases the detailed graphics of this VR game. The game is single player and compatible with the Vive, Rift and OSVR headsets. Download the game on Steam VR to play it right now!

6. DCS World

The DCS world is a game where you would be on a battlefield experiencing the amazing flight dynamics from the cockpit and trying to move ahead in the game by killing enemies. The battlefield includes various missions and you have a wide range of vehicles and jets that are realistic and have a resemblance to the real-life aircraft used in the Second World War.

The entire game is packed with amazing levels of details making the entire gameplay immensely immersive. The game has single and multiplayer modules and it is available on the Rift, Vive, and the OSVR headsets. You can download the game from Steam store and if you aren’t convinced yet then check out the video trailer.

7. Eve: Gunjack

This game is quite popular as an aerial battle game where you would be shooting your enemy spaceships and collecting points. You would form teams and blast you enemy crew into oblivion. It is impressive that the game has fine detailing and the entire gameplay is amazing.

It is the best VR selling game and one of the best flight simulation game one could possibly play. Compared to the other games on the list EVE: Gunjack is definitely the best when it comes to the overall gameplay, graphics, and immersive experience. It is compatible with the Vive, Oculus Rift and the OSVR headsets. The best game was mentioned in the end and I urge you to try this same if you haven’t played it yet.

Have you played any of these games? If yes, then share your experiences and if you haven’t played them then go ahead and download them from the Steam Store.

In the case, you think I have missed an interesting flight simulator VR game then let me know in the comment section below!

I think some of these look really good especially Lunar Flight! I already have War Thunder, although not on VR, is the VR version extra do you know?
I may well be tempted to buy a VR Headset for my PC if there are a few choices out there that take my fancy and I already have a Google Cardboard headset!

Yeah you should consider investing in one and you can go for either the Rift or the Vive, if you want to have a PC VR headset for yourself.

Oh man i love flight simulator games – i played Warbird when i was a kid, and ever since then I’ve always had time for flight sim games 🙂

I like the sound of Eve:Gunjack, as i like the idea of shooting down invading spaceships type of deal 🙂 Can you actually fly a spaceship in it though? Im looking for a spaceship flight simulator ideally, never played or seen one before.

Great post anyway, thanks for sharing it!

Did the writer get confused? Eve:Gunjack is most definitely not a flight sim. It is what some call a ‘Wave Shooter’ ie you have no control over your course, you just keep shooting waves of enemies that fly at you. The story is that you are manning a gun turret on a big ship and helping fight off hoards of enemies that keep flying towards you. It even has naff things like ‘power ups’! The graphics in the game are very detailed but It is possible the writer was thinking of ‘Eve:Valkerie’ which actually allows you to fly a fighter in defence of the ship.

Okay, I think I did get confused, you are right EVE: Valkyrie is better since there is more flying in the game but you cannot disregard the fact that Eve: Gunjack has a little bit of flying as well. Although in comparison Eve: Valkyrie is a better flight simulator game. Thanks for the contribution 🙂
