Best Horror Games on Samsung Gear VR

June 7, 2017 by Shrey 4 Comments

If you are a frequent reader of the site then by now it is very evident that I like horror games, LOL. Samsung Gear VR does have some really cool horror games on the Oculus platform and most of them are really worth your time(given that you like horror games). If you have just received your Gear VR and are still wondering which games are worth playing, then do check out the list of the best horror games on Samsung Gear VR as mentioned in the post.

Table of Contents

  • 1. Dreadhalls
  • 2. The Purge Day
  • 3. Affected -The Manor
  • 4. Mummy Hunter
  • 5. Allison’s Diary
  • 6. Corridor of Doom
  • 7. Goosebumps: Night of scares

1. Dreadhalls

I still remember including this game as one of the best Gear VR games in my previous post. This game is definitely one of the best and includes a lot of puzzles that you need to constantly solve to move forward in the game. The sound effects in the game are extremely good and that actually makes the experience engaging.

The game does not sport a strong storyline which is usually the case with horror games but it is definitely one of the best. You are typically inside a dungeon and are trying to get out but since you are not in there alone, things get a little creepy. With that said, do try out the game and it is not FREE, you can buy the game for $9.99 from the Oculus Store.

2. The Purge Day

This game is a shooting game where you have to attack enemies that come your way. The game does come with an interesting storyline and basically, gives you the feel of the Walking Dead. In the game, there is an invasion happening in your city and you need to find your wife out there.

This reminded me of the storyline of the Walking Dead, however, the story in the game gets really interesting as the game progresses. This game is really engaging and with an interesting storyline, it gets even better. You can buy the game for $2.99 and do let me know if you too felt that it was similar to the Walking Dead.

3. Affected -The Manor

Affected is not a long game but the game is the best that you can play on the Gear VR. It has been pretty amazing to see that the game still is the most played horror games on the Gear VR. The game has different endings so you can play it more than once and the storyline is pretty interesting.

The game contains a lot of jump scares and they are for the brave hearted. The game involves exploring a haunted manor and looking for clues and any trust me the manor looks extremely creepy from the inside. I think it is one of the most horrifying games on the Gear VR and it is definitely worth the time.

4. Mummy Hunter

This game is relatively less scary and it is really addictive since it is a first person shooting game where you are attacked by mummies and you need to get them out of the way. You will be in a pyramid and the game would involve exploration and find out mysteries related to the pyramid.

The game basically has ancient mummies and the old mysterious ways which are accompanied by some strange sounds that are really not pleasant to hear. The overall gaming experience with the Mummy Hunter is pretty good and you are actually not that terrified while playing the game. So, this game has a relatively lower horror quotient than the rest of the games.

5. Allison’s Diary

For some reason, any horror game that has a name in it is terrifying. It is just a general observation and let me know if I’m wrong but yes, it is true to an extent. Allison’s Diary has two chapters and both of them are released. The first chapter was Allison’s Diary: The Hospital and the second one is Allison’s Diary: The cathedral, both of them are equally interesting and immersive.

The game has a storyline and it is definitely one of the best VR horror games on the Gear VR. It is about discovering the mystery about what happened to Allison and this game is packed with jump scares so be prepared. There are going to be places where you might end up taking off your Gear VR, yes, it is that scary.

6. Corridor of Doom

This is another game which has a similar feel as that of  Affected and in this game, you go about exploring and trying to move around the house and there are plenty of jump scares in this game. The entire game is focused on exploration with a narrative storyline.

The game definitely is immersive and it is engaging. The game seems to be really fun and if you have not yet played this game then definitely go ahead and try to get your hands on this game. Although in comparison, the game is not as scary as the Affected but it still gets you scared.

7. Goosebumps: Night of scares

Goosebumps is a game that is packed with full of jump scares and it is really interesting. Reading his books when I was a kid, I sure was an R.L.Stine fan and it is definitely amazing to actually play the game in VR. The game has a mix of horror and excitement because you would definitely not feel like taking a break from playing the game.

Well, there were a few moments where I got scared but most of it was just made me feel interested in what would happen next and how the game would proceed and what could possibly be the ending. You should definitely try out this game and it is one of the most amazing experiences among all the other games mentioned.

Well, these were few of the best horror games on the Gear VR and if I have missed any, let me know by mentioning the games in the comment section below. Do leave us your comment on any of the games that you have tried and your experiences with them.
