Are you not able to get your hands on the Gear VR because you are an iPhone user?
No problem, here is the list of cool VR compatible games that go well with your iPhone and would. When it comes to smartphone VR headset, the Gear VR is definitely in the lead and most of the Gear VR supported games are simply amazing. However, if you are an iPhone user, you do get a little stuck on the best games to play because not all the games are as popular as the ones on the Oculus Store. So, without any further ado, let’s get started with the Best VR games for an iPhone:
1. Fractal Combat X
Fractal Combat is a fighter jet game where you would be flying a jet and shooting all the enemy units (so typical :P). You can play it either in the VR mode or in the normal mode and in to enable the VR mode you need to change the settings accordingly. This game requires a controller since most of the controls are best handled with the help of one.
In the VR mode, you can use your head movements in order to enable the movement of the jet in the game but this can get you a little motion sick or dizzy after a while so it is best that you use a controller while playing the entire game. I use a GameSir G3s controller and you could use any Bluetooth controller that would go well with your phone.
2. InCell VR
InCell VR is another action game where you would be inside the human body and you are going to kill the destructive cells. The main aim of the game is to destroy all the viruses that can cause harm to the body. This game can be played in VR mode as well as normal mode like the Fractal Combat X.
The graphics of the game are amazing making this game worth your while. It can get you motion sick with all the movements and the space travel within a huge pond of human cells. Being a bit careful and taking short breaks in between can really help. This entire game has an amazing gameplay and is a must try if you are new to the VR world.
3. Alien Attack VR
This is a first person shooting game where you are trying to kill all the aliens that have attacked a spacecraft. All the action is happening inside the aircraft and you have to kill as many enemies as possible to move forward in the game. The game has immersive gameplay and a high score leadership board which makes the game all interesting.
The controls are pretty easy to use and the soundtrack and graphics are pretty amazing which makes this gameplay one of the best experiences you can have in the VR world with your iPhone. This is a Cardboard compatible game and it will work with other VR headsets as well.
4. VR Battle Helicopters
This is an arcade game where you would be flying a helicopter and need to attack your enemies by taking down their helicopters. It is a fun and simple game and it feels amazing to play this game in VR. It has a full 360-degree head tracking and is one of the best VR experience on a smartphone.
It is pretty addictive and a nice shooting game which is Google Cardboard compatible. It must be clear by now that most of the Google Cardboard compatible games can be played on other VR headsets as well!
5. Lamper VR: Firefly Rescue
Lamper the Firefly is a lightning bug and how he tries to defeat the spiders who have invaded the Firefly Kingdom. Explore the beautiful woods and recruit your friends on an epic adventure. It involves using different ways to blow up your enemies and kill them which for some reason is very satisfying, LOL.
The gameplay is great, however, I would not say it is as good as the realistic VR titles we have with the Rift but it is good enough for a smartphone-based VR. Check out the game and let us know how you liked it in the comment section below.
6. End Space VR
End space VR is the first person shooting game where you would be flying a fighter jet and try to disarm your enemies. This game has a much better graphics than most of the smartphone-based VR games and that is one of the major reason that it has made it on the list.
It has an immersive VR experience since it uses the AAA graphics and the 3D sound. The detailing is very beautiful and there are upgrades available in the game and you can turn off the VR mode whenever necessary and play it on the normal mode on the smartphone as well.
7. Last Order: Blackwood Project VR Game
This is a narrative sort of game where you are a soldier who is in a post-nuclear environment. You need to collect information and explore the place and return back to the military camp safely with all the secret information which can help scientists stop any further harm caused by the nuclear environment.
The narrative is very engaging and interesting. It will keep you hooked on this game for really long and you really get involved as the character. One of the best narrative games that give you the feeling of the titles you usually find in the Rift and Vive.
8. Hidden Temple VR
The hidden Temple is an adventure game where you would be collecting coins and solving puzzles. It gives the Indiana Jones vibe and is a pretty engaging game. The entire gameplay is pretty interesting and good to be played with a VR headset.
The graphics are not that detailed and well it looks pretty much animated. Even then, it is not a deal breaker since most of the smartphone-based VR games look that way and the final call is the gameplay and the extent to which it engages its players.
9. House of Terror VR
House of terror might be one of the best VR games you have played and it has amazing graphics for a Google Cardboard supported game. It is one game where you go out in search of objects and try solving puzzles and at the same time keep running away from ghosts that haunt you in the journey.
You need to be a little careful with the controls since that can be a problem, it is better if you use a controller with this game which will help you make the gameplay more immersive and engaging.
10. Zombie shooter VR
In this game, you would be surrounded by various zombies and mutants who look absolutely lovely(Bleh) and you kill them in order to get ahead in the game. It is a pretty interesting VR game and with the right controller, the gameplay is going to be nothing but amazing.
The graphic detailing is pretty amazing which makes the entire experience really immersive. It is one game that you should try if you have a VR headset for your iPhone. Do let me know in the comment section which one is your favorite game and if you have any further suggestion, leave them in the comment section below!
I bought three cheap VR headsets in december because they where $10 and under. So I thought it would be worth giving them a try and the one is pretty decent.
I’ve played a couple of different games but I can’t play for to long because it makes me sick and that stinks because it can be fun!
Now I don’t have a iphone but it would be interesting to see if these games are also on android so I can give them a try. I know house of terror is but do you happen to know if any of the other are?
Hey Salvatore
Most of the games can be played on Android phones as well since most of them are Google Cardboard compatible! Among the Android Phones Samsung Gear VR has a different list of games which is just Samsung phone compatible otherwise Android phones and iPhone share almost the same games in VR.
Can’t go wrong with alien shooting, that one sounds exciting. The airplane game would give me motion sickness as well as the body game. Thanks for this list of great games for iPhones of which I’ve got. I will be bookmarking this site for later use 🙂
Keep up these great reviews.
Hi Nate, I’m glad that I could help! I love shooting games for some reason, LOL. Shooting games and horror genre is something which I would never stop playing!
Hello Shrestha,
I like how informative your article is. I was looking for some cool Virtual Reality games that can be played with an Iphone. House of Terror seems pretty cool since scary games are the best to be played with Virtual Reality. I would consider downloading it soon. Thank You.
It just sounds fun, LOL! There are a few horror games that you should try on the Vive and let me tell you they are so scary!
However, hope this was an informative post.
Wow, so great to know about all of these fascinating games! I didn’t know these were even available on iPhone! Hidden Temple looks particularly fun. Lamper looks pretty fun, with cute characters. I’ll definitely try these out during a quiet stretch of time at the office. Thanks for writing this helpful review!
