Google and HTC Vive were planning on a Daydream standalone VR headset which is now canceled and we won’t be seeing them working together on this project anymore. A few days back there was a tweet on twitter which revealed that we won’t be seeing a Daydream Standalone. It would have been interesting to see how the Daydream Standalone would have turned out but I think we have other things to wonder as well!
However, it is in the news that Vive wants to release a Vive Focus which is a standalone VR headset with 6 DoF and is going to be one of the best VR headsets that we have seen out there. So, there is a standalone VR headset that is soon going to be released but it is not the Daydream Standalone and instead, we would have the Vive Focus.
The new Vive Focus looks like a blend of the new Acer VR headset and PlayStation VR, however, it is interesting to see how well this headset would turn out. About the controller, apparently, there would be controllers similar to the Vive VR headset in order to make your experiences immersive and interactive in VR.
The Vive Focus might just be released in China and until now that is the only part confirmed about the release. The dates of the release of Vive Focus is not yet out and if you want to know more then do stay tuned to the website and all the new releases and discussion that goes on!
