When the prices of Oculus dropped to $399, many people believed that there would be a newer version of the Rift coming soon. Unlike the Oculus 2.0 version that you might have expected, Oculus has come up with an Oculus Go VR headset that is a standalone VR headset and does not need any phone to experience VR.
The Oculus Go is supposed to hit the sweet spot as it is between the PC VR headset Oculus Rift and the mobile powered VR headset. The headset is lightweight and is going to be super comfortable to wear. The headset was designed so that everyone could easily have an immersive VR experience.
There isn’t much information on the specs apart from the fact that the headset would be sporting an LCD display with 2560×1440 resolution and it is going to have an integrated audio. The headset is going to be cross-compatible with all most of the Gear VR titles.
The development kits are going to be shipped in November and the final consumer version which is going to be priced at $199 would be released in the beginning of the next year.
