In the Top 5 VR headsets for Android Phones, let’s look at the best VR headsets in 2016 which we can use with our android phones in order to enjoy gaming in the VR world. There is another related post where I talk about the top 5 VR headsets which are suitable for iPhone, so if you are an iPhone lover then do check out that post.
However, most of the VR headsets cater to both Android and iPhone but there are a few which cater only to specific Android phones, like the Samsung Gear VR. Without wasting any more time, let’s look at the top 5 VR headsets for Android Phones.
1. Samsung Gear VR
Offered Price: $58.99
MSRP: $ 99
Best Buy: www.amazon.com
This VR headset is developed by team Oculus and is one of the best VR headsets we have for smartphones. It has an amazing FOV of 101 degrees and is one of the hottest selling products on amazon. If you want to have a quality VR experience then this VR headset should be your first priority.
The only limitation of this VR headset is that it works with few limited Andriod phones. It works with the Samsung Galaxy S7, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+. Only these phones are compatible with the Gear VR so if you are planning to get one then be sure to check if you have a compatible phone.
The Gear VR has a lot of content and most of the games that you can play on the Oculus Rift can be experienced on the Gear VR, however, they would highly differ in the VR quality.
You can read the complete review on Samsung Gear VR here and for more, you could check out the customer reviews on amazon.
2. Merge VR
Offered Price: $59.99
MSRP: $59.99
Best Buy: www.amazon.com
Merge VR headset is a pretty impressive VR headset and it is the second best VR headset that should be recommended soon after the Gear VR. The headset material is unique and you would even like its catchy purple color. There are people who find the color off-putting but to me, it looks really exotic.
Moreover, I do not see a point in cribbing about the color when you would be in the VR world. The content on the Merge VR headset is pretty amazing and you should definitely consider getting one if you do not have one of the above mentioned Samsung compatible phones. The content on the Merge VR is pretty huge and you would never run out of games unlike most of the other VR headset where the content is pretty limited.

3. Freefly VR
Price: $37.20
Best Buy: www.amazon.com
This VR headset is another premium VR headset which is compatible with both Android Phones and iPhones. It has a pretty good FOV and the VR experience with this VR headset is immersive. It is a great VR headset for android phones and hence it makes third on the list of top 5 VR headsets for Android Phones.
The quality of VR on this headset is pretty good although it may not be as great as the Oculus developed Samsung Gear VR but it is still worth the money. There are a lot of possibilities that you could go for with the Freefly VR and one of them even involves syncing it with a drone.
This VR headset comes with a controller as well which would help you in navigation and has a fairly good amount of content to browse from. This is one of the best VR headsets that you can find in the swarm of cheap Chinese VR headsets. In order to get the full specifications and other details of this VR headset, read the complete review of Freefly VR headset.
4.Homido VR headset
Price: $30
Best Buy: www.amazon.com
Homido VR headset is compatible with both iPhones and Android Phones. The VR gaming experience on this headset might be average and not as good as the ones mentioned above. The FOV is not as great as the others and that really kills an immersive VR experience.
Apart, from that setback, the content on this VR headset is pretty good and not disappointing as most of the other VR headsets in the market. You can even connect this VR headset with your computer which would let you view your PC game in the Virtual world.
Overall, it is an average VR headset and to know more about the specifications and read a complete review on the Homido VR headset. For more reviews, you can read the customer reviews on amazon about this VR headset.
5. Noon VR
Price: $ 67.15
Best Buy: www.amazon.com
Noon VR is quite expensive VR headset on the list but the quality of VR experience on the VR headset is pretty good. The VR headset can provide immersive VR experiences like the Gear VR, it works on the eye tracking hence making navigation much easier.
Even though the Noon VR has it all the only setback is the limited content on this VR headset. However, the developers have taken the initiative to increase the content, but as of now, you do not have many options. You need to rely on other apps which would work well with this VR headset.
The quality of immersive experience is great but I wish there was more content to look forward to. If you want to know the specifications, features, and other details then read the complete review on the Noon VR headset.

Hey, i love your website. It’s soo clear and informative I too am into VR headsets although they do give me a headache tbh. But if I were to buy one I would definitely use your research you have provided for us. All the best lee x
P.S: Have you tried out the PS4 VR headset?
Haha, thanks Lee. Yes, I have tried the PS4 VR headset, you should try it sometime as well. It is an amazing experience!
Hello,
The only time I used a VR headset, I felt queasy. Maybe it was due to my own personal equilibrium but I didn’t wear it for long before I wanted to take it off.
But, that experience was 2 years ago. Perhaps nausea reduction is now built into all VR headsets?
Maybe if you’re the type of person that will usually get seasick on a boat, you’re also going to feel ill while using a VR headset.
What’s your experience with feeling sick while using VR?
Cheers!
Hey Jon
Motion sickness is something which most of the VR companies have improved upon as of 2017. It even depends on the kind of games that you play in VR. Most of the first person games tend to make you motion sick. If you are scared of heights and play a game where you are asked to look down from the top of the cliff then you would certainly get motion sickness.
If you choose the games carefully then that could make a lot of difference. Hope motion sickness does not stop you from trying VR.
