Gear VR is the best mobile VR headset that we have and the quality of VR experience on this headset is pretty amazing. If you are someone who uses the Gear VR a lot then you might have come across the lag issue a couple of times.
It is pretty common to see this once in a while and if you play a ton of games then this problem is going to be a frequent visitor.
This post is regarding how you can avoid the lag and follow a few simple tips that can really help you take care of the issue.
1. Close all the other apps
This is the easiest thing to do in order to avoid any lag problems and that is to close all the apps running in the background.
The background applications to occupy some memory space and by just closing them all you would actually be helping a lot in avoiding any lag.
If you are playing a game then make sure that the game is the only app that is running. Having more than one apps in the background can also lead to your battery discharging quicker which is another bummer if you are in a VR gameplay.
So by just closing all the apps, you are hitting two birds with one stone. You would have a long and smooth gameplay in VR which is all you need.
2. Maybe your software needs an update
This happens quite often, when there is an update prompt we tend to ignore it and later we forget to update the app which can result in lag.
This is pretty common with most of us so whenever you feel that you are experiencing lag a lot on your Gear VR make sure to check if you have all your apps updated as this can also be the cause of your problem.
Make sure that your phone software and your Oculus Software both have been updated. You should even take a look at the game app and make sure that you have installed all the updates so that everything runs very smoothly.
3. Overheating issues with the Gear VR
Overheating is another reason that there is a lag in your VR headset. If you have been using your headset for around 30 minutes straight then there is a possibility that your phone has been heated up and the lag is because of overheating.
The newer models of the Gear VR have better designs that do not overheat but using the Gear VR for long periods of time can easily cause your phone to heat up.
Make sure that you take breaks in between so that you give some time period for your phone to cool down.
When your phone gets too hot you get a warning that you can no longer run your VR headset and this should be a warning to you that you need to take a break and cool down your phone.
