VR Backpacks are giving a new shape to VR reality by making their use less wired and more accessible. HP is in the game as well and it has released two backpacks that are interesting.
Something that everyone should consider is the price point, now before moving any further, we should warn you that none of the backpacks come cheap and if you really want to invest in one then the budget has to be around $3000.
The VR backpacks have some advantages over normal PC computers and the major one is that there are no wires lying around.
You have more mobility and you are not afraid to trip over a wire while you are enjoying your VR gaming experience. The VR backpack makes long VR gaming sessions possible and you are going to love the quality of VR as well.
Since these backpacks have some pretty solid hardware you would not be disappointed with the frame rates and overall quality of the experience.
SO moving on to the VR backpacks from HP, there are two models and one is more for consumer consumption while the other one is for industrial purposes.

HP Omen Z VR Backpack is a powerful piece of hardware that you can use as both VR backpack and as a part of your PC setup.
The unit has a really elegant deisng and it weighs around 5 kgs. The weight might be a downside but when you wear it with the backpack, the weight gets equally distributed on your back and it is not going to be that heavy.
You can easily use it for 2-3 hours of a gaming session. You might want to take breaks in between though as the backpack is not that light.
The two batteries that come along with it, you can use one while you charge the other and vice versa so you always have a continuous supply to the backpack.
The specs of the backpack are- 7th Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7820HK Processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 (8 GB GDDR5X dedicated) so you can play a game in their highest settings without any issues, 16 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD.
The backpack works pretty well with Oculus Rift, Vive and the Windows Mixed Reality headsets. So, if you are looking for a system that can easily give you a beautiful VR experience at high settings then this backpack is going to be your dream purchase.

2. HP Z VR Backpack
HP Z is relatively expensive and a VR backpack that was made for industrial usage. it was made for training employees, designing or helping with a surgery.
Basically, the HP Z VR Backpack can do a lot and it was handled to tackle a lot more than the Omen backpack. It weighs around 4.5 kgs which are less than the weight of the HP Omen VR Backpack which is around 5 kgs.
The VR backpack feels and looks amazing with a great design and an amazing chassis. This VR backpack can also handle 1-1.5 hours of battery life like the Omen backpack.
The specs on this laptop are amazing as well.
It comes with Intel Core i7 7820 HQ processor, NVIDIA Quadro P5200 graphics card with 16 GB of RAM. It has expandable memory so you can, later on, improve it if you feel the need to do so.
This VR backpack is solely built keeping the industrial needs in mind so you have a lot more hardware features that might not be that important for a gamer but it would be for someone looking to use VR to handle a few things in their company.
Which one is better?
Well, that really depends on what you are looking for in a VR Backpack. If you are looking for a VR backpack that you can use for gaming then the HP Omen VR Backpack is perfect for you.
You can use it as a VR backpack and can even include it in your PC setup. However, if you are looking for a setup that you can use in your office to experience VR then teh HP Z VR Backpack is the best.
There is a lot that you can do with both the VR backpacks and for a normal consumer, the HP Omen VR Backpack is more than enough.
