Homdio Grab Review is right in time and soon after the Homido V2 Review because that is when Homido decided to go for the Homido Grab as a simple VR headset which would stand out with the different exotic colors it is available in. Homido Grab reminded me of the Mattel VR headset but it just seems like Homido has improved the quality in comparison to the Mattel ViewMaster VR headset which was mainly targeted towards kids.
The Homido Grab has a more premium look to it in comparison to the Cardboard which looks like a cheap version for VR headset and the Mattel VR headset which would come across as childish to many. Homido Grab is a simple VR headset which would be perfect for watching demos and short clips in VR. Let’s get into the detailed Homido Grab Review.

What I liked about the Homdio Grab
1. The Homido Grab is a really simple and lightweight VR headset without any head straps. You need to hold it up to your face in order to get into the VR world.
2. It has a secure placement for your phone and does accommodate any phone which has a screen size ranging between 4.5- 5.7 inches making it compatible with most of the android phones and iPhones.
3. Homdio has been doing a great job in making quality VR headsets and the Homido Grab is pretty light in weight, easy to use and at the same time very rigid and firm. It sports a premium quality and does not make you feel like you are holding a cheap Chinese VR headset.
4. The Homdio Grab is compatible with all the Google Cardboard apps and even has a magnetic trigger which would help you in selecting menu items while your phone is inside the VR headset and even assist you with gaming.
5. It gives you a good enough VR experience even without the interpupillary distance settings and the focus settings.
6. It is excellent for kids since they have a lot of app options and since it does not have head straps they would not waste time using this VR headset for long hours of gaming.
What I did not like about the Homido Grab
1. They could have included the interpupillary settings and the focus settings. Although when you look at it as a VR headset that would be just used for a while, you might actually ignore these setbacks.
2. There are no head straps so you can not use this for long hours of gaming.
Content on the Homido Grab
Since it goes well with all the Google Cardboard apps, the Homido Grab has a lot of content and demos that you could experience. It can be one of those VR headsets which you could use to initially understand how the entire VR concept works and how it feels to be gaming inside the VR world.
The content on the official Homido app is ever increasing and with lots of apps and games being released every day, it is sure that VR content is here to stay. The Homido app is expanding its content and its apps. However, this VR headset is more for watching 360-degree videos and having VR experiences.
Conclusion
The Homido Grab is a lightweight VR headset which is mainly designed for demo purposes and to check on the functionality of an app during VR presentations. It is an amazing VR headset to carry along if you have to show some VR content to more than one person as it is more sanitary since it does not cradle your face resulting in a low rate of contamination due to sweat.
The VR headset does have an amazing lens quality and is definitely an upgrade from the Google Cardboard and the childish Mattel ViewMaster VR. It is definitely one of the best VR headsets that you could go for if you want to use it for VR presentations or demo.
Another great use for the Homdio Grab is that it would be a wonderful gift for kids. Due to the absence of the head straps, they would not overuse the headset for gaming and keep the VR exploration moderate. It is a great way to introduce them to the VR world.
However, for the price that it has been offered, I still think that the Merge VR is a way better choice. Merge VR has a great price/feature balance, hence before buying this VR headset do check out the Merge VR goggles Review. If you have a Samsung phone then there is no reason that you should buy the Samsung Gear VR headset which comes under the same price.

Dose the Homdio come with a battery that charges or does it tap into your phones battery life? and how durable would one be if you dropped it? And would the phone survive? I guess it’s not meant for long time use, I’m just curious about how it affects your phones battery.
The VR headsets have no battery of their own, the phone is inserted inside the VR headset and the phone runs the VR apps. So it is the phone’s battery that you should be concerned about here.
It has the same effect on your phone’s battery as your usual apps and games have there is no extra battery loses just because it is being used with the VR headset. Your phone will survive even if you drop the VR headset and have left the phone inside, however there can be slight damages to the VR headset.

The reviews on all of this virtual reality stuff were really informative. You hear bits and pieces about things like the VR glasses, but I had no idea about the rest of it.
I had never heard about the headsets. They do remind me of the old viewmasters. Back in the day we thought the 3D was amazing.
My only experience with VR is with flight simulators. I wasn’t aware of the war games one.

I love how VR is really gaining momentum in the mainstream world. This is a headset I can easily see in classrooms where kids would be learning from short, interactive demos. The magnetic trigger is a neat feature, but as you say, the lack of head straps would deter from using the headset for a long time.

Yes, this VR headset is not meant for long hours of gaming that is the reason I have recommended the Merge VR or the Samsung Gear VR.
VR is on the rise. Everything will be on VR soon.. This one looks interesting. For testing purposes or demonstration’s it might be awesome. But I probably will go and look at what else there is. I see that you have reviewed different ones, so I will check them out. Great review tho..:-)

Wow! I never knew that mobile VR could be affordable! This is much cheaper than the Samsung VR and its practically the same! When I first tried VR I fell in love with it. This is very interesting. Couldn’t you just add some straps that strap onto your head like the Samsung VR?
NO you cant add on headstraps to this. However, if you want a VR headset with headstraps you can surely check out the Merge VR or the Homido v2.

Wow, I really like this VR, just by how it looks and how it is designed. No straps in my opinion is a good thing, someone could get lost in that VR world if gaming too long, expecialy kids. The Homdio VR headset seems like a better headset then the three cheap VR headsets I unboxed on the We Deem Channel. The Homdio Vr Headset has a very attractive design, it has the magnetic button that the headset I have used didn’t and it doesn’t feel cheap.
My only issue with the headset is it having no strap which you have pointed out and this is a deal breaker for me but I do agree this would make for a good VR headset for children.
Do you feel any nausea from using it? I know I can’t use VR headset for long because I feel dizzy and sick to my stomach.
I did feel nauseated initially but then you get used to it. Moreover, I feel it really depends on the type of game you are playing in VR.
The Grab is perfect to use for short periods of time and could be used for VR demos and other applications.

Works well for me for my iphone6. I am very nearsighted and can use this headset without my glasses. I found that the lenses, which are fixed focus, were better than in most of the low cost units I’ve tried The build seems strong and the button works. there is one con it does not have haa strap which you already mentioned. now i am gonna try other vr headset product which you reviewed.

Yes, the Homido Grab would be pretty amazing for Kids. I really liked the fact that it was vibrant and colorful making it more appealing to the younger audiences. It is in not going to be interesting for an VR enthusiast but for VR beginners like kids, it is one of the best options.
This looks like an excellent product especially at a price below $40. The Merge VR and the Samsung Gear VR are a bit more expensive but, are they worth it?
Also, do you have any input on the Zeiss VR ONE or the Noon VR? I hear they are pretty good, too!

The Merge VR and the Gear VR are definitely worth it and there is a really small price difference between them and the Homido Grab because of the constant discounts you have on them.
The Noon VR is pretty good as well and now they have their newer version called the Noon VR plus so do check out my review on that if you are interested. There is a post called Noon VR vs Zeiss VR where I discuss the differences between the two VR headsets in detail and you might like that.

For people wearing glasses it really won’t affect your experience much since you are anyway going to hold it over your face. However, there will be leakage of light which can make the experience no so immersive. It is better to have VR headsets where you can adjust the IPD.

Yeah these are more for kids and someone who wants them for viewing experiences. Merge VR is the real deal and if you want something for longer VR gaming sessions then the Merge VR is the perfect choice.
