NOLO is a piece of hardware that renders additional positional tracking to devices like Oculus Go or the Gear VR.
Basically, if your headset is limited to 3 DoF, you can use NOLO VR to expand it to 6 DoF, making your VR experience more immersive.
Now apart from the basic introduction of this piece of hardware, you have to consider the fact that it is expensive and you have to consider a lot of things before investing in it.
There are a few things that made us go ” Amazing” but considering the overall, price/feature balance, we were still torn if it really is the right way to go for someone who is trying to go for more degrees of freedom inside VR.

More about Nolo VR…
So, when you buy NOLO VR, you get a positional tracking setup along with some controllers. Now, this would help you move around more in VR along with using the controllers while playing some amazing PC VR Games.
The NOLO VR renders all the functionality that a normal VR headset would need to be at par with headsets like the Oculus Rift or the Vive.
But, even with all the amazing features, it has to offer to a VR headset, the question still remains if it is as good as the VR experience on the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive.
Nolo VR with the Oculus Go
The Oculus Go is a standalone VR headset with a 3DoF and it is interesting to use a Nolo VR to get a 6 DoF experience from the Go and play games from the Steam VR.
Something that you might want to consider is that you need a PC that has specs that would help you play games from Steam VR on the Oculus Go.
So, even if you have the Nolo VR you do need a PC to connect the entire setup. The Nolo VR needs to be set up and for that, you can refer to their original website as they have a step by step tutorial.
Another thing that you can do is sideload apps and then play with the Nolo VR. The Nolo VR just makes your headset better and you can even use it with smartphone-based VR headsets like the Gear VR.
Gameplay with the NOLO VR
You can play games like Superhot VR with this hardware on the Oculus Go and even though the experience compares to that of the HTC Vive, it does have a few drawbacks.
One of the drawbacks that one has to consider the fact that there is some latency. You are going to experience some kind of time lag and the feeling is not that great.
If you are investing that amount of money then it is obvious to expect more from the hardware, but sadly there is still some room for improvement.
Is it worth investing in a NOLO VR?
Sure, the NOLO VR enhances your VR experience but considering the price point and then adding the price of the Oculus Go and the need to own a powerful PC to run both of them together, puts the whole investment in question.
You are better off buying an Oculus Rift at the same price point rather than investing in a Nolo VR and the Oculus Go.
However, one should consider the fact that with the Oculus Go, you can take the VR headset with you while you are travelling but that is just not possible with the Oculus Rift.
For the Oculus Rift you NEED a powerful PC at all times and if you plan on taking it to your friend’s place then you have to make sure that he has a PC that is compatible.
With the Oculus Go, you do not need to be dependent on a PC system and you can indulge in a VR experience anytime. You can later make the experience better with NOLO whenever you wish to and at other times you could use the headset on your own.
The battery life on the Oculus Go lasts for about one and a half hours so it is pretty good if you want to watch a movie without having to connect to a PC or the Nolo VR.
So, do I need the Nolo VR?
It really depends on your needs. Not many people would be willing to invest in NOLO VR considering that you need to set it up where the process is not that easy and even then you are not going to have an experience as good as the Oculus Rift.
So, if you just want to occasionally play SteamVR games or Adult games then you can definitely go for Nolo VR, as the experience does get better.
This way you get to enjoy Oculus Go on the Go but at the same time, you can expect for a Rift-like experience with the NoloVR.
Overall, if you already own an Oculus Go and want to see what more you can add onto it, then you might like the Nolo VR.
However, if you plan to buy both the Oculus Go and the Nolo VR thinking you might get a Rift-like experience then you should consider all the points mentioned above before making your choice.
